Claudio
Roditi is certainly one of the outstanding jazz trumpeters of our time. Claudio
not only impresses jazz with his remarkable clarity and fluidity of playing
in all registers, but also woos them with a deliciously warm, mellow sound.
An obvious feature, apart from his incredible facility on the instrument, is
his trumpet. Rotary valves are rarely seen in jazz clubs - unless Claudio Roditi
is on tour again with his Scherzer Bb Trumpet No. 8219 Claudio Roditi Model.
Claudio has been co-operating with the Scherzer workshop of Vogtländische Musikinstrumentenfabrik
for some years. Rarely has a musician enhanced the development of an instrument
with such enormous energy and charisma.
Just the number of mouthpiece
versions he tested in the development phase would have driven others crazy. But
Claudio did not give up until he had the perfect instrument in his hands.
Another special feature of Claudio is his insistence every now and then on
taking an instrument from the production line in VMI to test on his German
tours with the Klaus Ignatzek Quintet. He believes that every production model
trumpet which bears his name should satisfy his requirements no less.
